Talk to your books

Dialogues let you ask your books questions. Pick one book or several, ask anything, and the answers draw on the passages you've highlighted in them, so the conversation is about your reading rather than a generic summary.

How it works

Start a Dialogue from a book or from your library and choose the books to talk to. When you ask a question, Hikara finds the highlights most relevant to it in each book (or your most recent ones) and the books answer building on the parts you marked.

Ask several books the same question to see where they agree and where they don't.

Why highlights matter

The more you highlight, the more a Dialogue has to work with. A book you've barely marked can still answer, but the answers become specific to you as your highlights grow.

Questions

Is a Dialogue the same as asking ChatGPT about a book?

No. A Dialogue is grounded in the passages you highlighted in your own books, so the answers start from what you found important.

Can I talk to more than one book at once?

Yes. A Dialogue can include up to five books from your library, and each question you ask goes to all of them.
