What is Hikara?+
Hikara is an AI-powered application that helps you visualize the connections between the books you read. Instead of a simple list, Hikara creates an interactive knowledge graph of your reading life, revealing hidden themes, influences, and relationships between books.
How do I get started?+
Simply sign up with an email or Google account, add some books from your library, and Hikara's AI will analyze them to find connections. You'll see your personal knowledge graph form in real-time.
Is my data safe?+
Yes! Your data is encrypted and stored securely. We comply with GDPR and CCPA regulations. You own your data and can export or delete it anytime.
Features
What kinds of book connections does Hikara find?+
Hikara finds three types of connections: Echoes (similar themes), Challenges (opposing viewpoints), and Bridges (cross-domain connections). Each connection includes the AI's explanation of why the books relate.
Can I see my books in different ways?+
Absolutely! You can view your books as an interactive graph, a library grid, or in Journey Mode which shows them chronologically. You can also filter by reading status, rating, or search by vibe.
What does Journey Mode do?+
Journey Mode shows your books arranged chronologically by when you added them, sorted by reading status. Animated edges show your intellectual progression through time.
Connection Analysis
How does the AI find connections between books?+
Hikara uses Claude AI to analyze book metadata, your personal notes, and ratings to find meaningful connections. It considers themes, writing style, historical context, and how ideas build on each other.
Can I add my own connections?+
Currently, connections are generated by AI analysis. However, you can add personal notes to each book, which helps Hikara understand what matters most to you.
What is connection strength?+
Connection strength is a percentage (0-100) showing how strong the AI believes a connection is between two books. Higher percentages indicate stronger thematic or ideological alignment.
Privacy & Data
You can delete your entire account and all associated data at any time through your account settings. We're currently working on data export functionality to help you back up your library in standard formats.+
