Keep the passages that mattered

Save a highlight by typing it or by photographing the page, and Hikara reads the text from the photo for you. Every highlight lives in one searchable place, and one comes back each day so the passages you marked don't fade.

Capturing highlights

Add a highlight from a book's page: type the passage, or take a photo and let Hikara pull the quote out of it. Add a page number and a note of your own if you like. Highlights are private to you unless you choose to share one.

Finding them again

The Highlights page gathers everything you've saved across your library and lets you search it. On the Insights page, highlights that share words are grouped into the themes you keep underlining.

One a day

Each day the Reading tab shows one of your highlights, picked at random with older ones more likely, so passages you'd half-forgotten come back. Your highlights also ground Dialogues: when you talk to a book, the answers draw on what you marked.

Questions

Can Hikara import my Kindle highlights?

No. There's no Kindle or Readwise sync; you add highlights by typing them or photographing the page.

Are my highlights private?

Yes. They're visible only to you unless you share one, for example with a Circle.

How does the daily highlight get chosen?

At random from your highlights, with older ones weighted more heavily. It changes at midnight in your time zone and stays the same all day.
